What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Who we share your data with + How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

Governing law and jurisdiction

These conditions are governed by the laws of England and the English courts shall have the non-exclusive jurisdiction to resolve any disputes arising out of or under it.

We appreciate that sometimes things go wrong or not as we had hoped. Please do talk to your Surveyor if you have any concerns or issues and let us try to resolve whatever the issue is.

As a regulated RICS firm, we have in place a CHP, which meets the regulatory requirements. Our CHP has two stages. Stage one of the CHP gives West Country Surveyors Ltd t/a Heim Surveyors the opportunity to review and consider your complaint in full. West Country Surveyors Ltd will try to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction. If you are not happy with our response, you will have the opportunity to take your complaint to stage two. Stage two gives you, the client, the opportunity to have your complaint reviewed and considered by an independent redress provider, approved by RICS.

Stage 1

If you have spoken to us about your complaint, please put the details of your complaint in writing. We ask that you put your complaint in writing to make sure that we have a full understanding of the reasons for your complaint. Please send your written complaint to:

We will consider your complaint as quickly as possible and will acknowledge receipt of your complaint within 7 days. If we are not able to give you a full response, we will update you within 28 days.

If we are unable to agree on how to resolve your complaint then you have the opportunity to take your complaint to an independent redress provider, as approved by RICS Regulatory Board. We have chosen to use the following redress providers:
